Logitech MX Keys Mini vs MX Keys: Compact or Full-Size?

By the FutureFavs editorial team · 2026-11-03 · Desk research from Logitech's published specs, not a hands-on test

The Short Version

Need a number pad? Get the full-size MX Keys. If you don't, the MX Keys Mini gives you the same key style, backlight and battery in a much smaller board.

On Logitech's own spec pages the two keyboards share the essentials: Perfect Stroke keys, a hand-proximity backlight with an ambient light sensor, a 1500 mAh rechargeable battery rated for up to 10 days (or up to 5 months with the backlight off), Easy-Switch between up to 3 devices and a 10 m wireless range. The real differences are size and the receiver. The MX Keys has an integrated numpad and is 430.2 mm wide and 810 g; the MX Keys Mini drops the numpad and is 295.99 mm wide and 506.4 g. The retail MX Keys Mini connects over Bluetooth only, with no receiver in the box; the MX Keys for Business and the MX Keys Mini for Business both ship with a Logi Bolt USB receiver.

Both buttons point to the for Business editions. Our MX Keys review explains why: the original MX Keys listing on Amazon is no longer sold, and the MX Keys for Business is the same full-size, backlit keyboard with a Logi Bolt receiver. For the Mini, the for Business edition is the one that includes a receiver.

All figures are Logitech's own, read from the three Logitech US product pages linked above on 3 November 2026. The MX Keys column uses the MX Keys for Business page, the full-size model our buy link points to. Logitech lists the MX Keys Mini for Business at 296 × 132 × 21 mm and 506 g, the same as the retail Mini rounded. We have not measured any of these figures ourselves.

Which should you buy?

Choose the MX Keys if you type numbers

The integrated numpad is the main thing the MX Keys has that the Mini does not. If you enter figures in spreadsheets, accounts or data all day, the full-size board keeps those keys under one hand. Read our full MX Keys review for the long-form take.

Choose the MX Keys Mini if you want desk space back

Without the numpad the Mini is about 13 cm narrower, so a mouse can sit closer to the keyboard, and at 506.4 g it is the easier one to carry between home and office. You keep the same backlight, battery rating and 3-device Easy-Switch. Our MX Keys Mini review covers it in more depth.

Mind the receiver

If a computer has no Bluetooth, unreliable Bluetooth, or is a Mac with FileVault turned on, pick a model with the Logi Bolt receiver in the box: the MX Keys for Business or the MX Keys Mini for Business. The Logi Bolt receiver needs a free USB-A port, according to Logitech's system requirements.

Our final verdict

This comes down to the numpad. Logitech's specs give the two keyboards the same battery, backlight, Easy-Switch and range, so the full-size MX Keys is the pick if you use a number pad and the MX Keys Mini is the pick if you don't. Whichever you choose, check whether the version you buy includes the Logi Bolt receiver.
