About FutureFavs
Buying guides for people who work from home.
FutureFavs is an independent gear research site for freelancers, remote workers, and solopreneurs. We dig into the keyboards, webcams, headphones, standing desks, and docks that actually end up on home-office desks — and compare what they claim against what real owners report. We earn from affiliate links when you buy through us; that's why we never get paid to recommend specific products.
How we research
We don't claim to own every product we cover. What we do, for each review and roundup:
- Read the spec sheets carefully. Manufacturer datasheets, FCC filings, support documents — the boring source-of-truth that marketing pages summarise (and sometimes overstate).
- Read what owners actually say. Long-tail Reddit threads, verified Amazon reviews, return rates where retailers publish them, and forum complaints months after launch. Surface patterns matter more than launch-day takes.
- Watch the credible video reviewers. We weight independent tech reviewers (MKBHD, LTT and similar) over influencer unboxings. Their tests catch the issues press kits skip.
- Compare to credible alternatives in the same bracket. A single product in isolation is rarely useful — we publish comparisons and roundups so you can see "this vs that" rather than just "this is good".
If we have hands-on time with a unit (purchased, borrowed, or returned), we say so explicitly in the review. If we don't, we frame the piece as a research-based buying guide. We will never pretend to have used a product we haven't.
How we make money
Two sources, both transparent:
- Affiliate commissions. Most product links on this site carry an Amazon Associates tag (
futurefavs-20) or a non-Amazon retailer affiliate tag. If you click through and buy, we earn a small commission at no extra cost to you — see our full affiliate disclosure. - Display advertising. Google AdSense runs on most pages. We don't accept direct paid sponsorships and we never trade payment for a positive verdict.
What you'll never see on this site
- Claims of hands-on testing we haven't actually done.
- "Sponsored" placement in roundups (no "best mouse" lists where the #1 pick was paid to be there).
- AI-generated reviews pretending to be human testing.
- "Affiliate-bait" listicles with 20 products and 5 paragraphs of generic filler each.
- Verdicts that ignore obvious downsides because we like the brand.
