Availability update, August 2026: the original Insta360 Link compared here is no longer sold on Amazon. The buy links now point to its successor, the Link 2, which is a newer model — so treat the spec-by-spec detail below as describing the original Link, and check the Link 2's own specification before buying. The Brio 4K on the other side of this comparison is discontinued too; its links now point to Logitech's current MX Brio. Both sides of this page therefore link successors rather than the exact models compared below.
Listen to the verdict
Static desk setup? Brio 4K. Move around or present to a whiteboard? Insta360 Link.
The Brio is the better fixed-position desk webcam. The Insta360 Link is fundamentally different — it's a webcam on a motorised gimbal with AI subject tracking. If you sit still in front of your monitor, you're paying €100 extra for features you won't use. If you stand at a whiteboard, walk around a room while presenting, or do active recording where you're moving, the Insta360 transforms the experience.

If your workflow is: sit at your desk, take Zoom calls, occasionally record a video at your monitor — the Brio does this better than the Insta360 Link. The image quality with RightLight 3 in difficult lighting is slightly ahead of the Link's HDR processing, and the Windows Hello face login is an underrated daily convenience. No moving parts means no mechanical failure mode over 5+ years.
The gimbal tracking is the killer feature. If you teach, train, give workshops, or simply prefer to stand and pace while on calls, the Link follows you smoothly. You can step away from the desk and the camera stays framed on you up to ~3 metres.
The whiteboard mode is the other unique feature. Point the camera at a whiteboard, do the palm gesture, and it perspective-corrects the angle automatically. For trainers and teachers using a physical whiteboard, this beats every screen-sharing alternative.
| If you... | Choose |
|---|---|
| Sit at your desk for calls and recording | Brio 4K |
| Stand or pace while presenting | Insta360 Link |
| Teach / train / give workshops | Insta360 Link |
| Use a physical whiteboard regularly | Insta360 Link |
| Want Windows Hello face unlock | Brio 4K |
| Want zero mechanical failure modes | Brio 4K |
| Hate fiddling with controller software | Brio 4K |
| Record vlog-style content | Insta360 Link |
| Budget <€250 | Brio 4K |
Buy the Logitech Brio 4K for static desk setups. It's the safer choice for 90% of buyers and the €100 saved is real.
Want sharper than either of these? The Elgato Facecam 4K uses a larger 1/1.8″ Sony STARVIS 2 sensor and takes 49 mm filters — but it costs more and, as our review sets out, it only pays off if you have the light for it.
Buy the Insta360 Link only if movement or whiteboard presentation is core to how you use the webcam. For teachers, trainers, and creators who pace, the gimbal tracking is genuinely transformative — not a gimmick.
