Listen to the verdict
Recording one voice, mostly podcasts/calls? RODE NT-USB Mini. Need multi-pattern flexibility (interviews, instruments, ASMR)? Blue Yeti.
Both are USB condensers in the same studio quality tier. The Blue Yeti's value is flexibility: 4 polar patterns means you can use it as a podcast mic today and an interview mic tomorrow and a stereo instrument mic next week. The NT-USB Mini sacrifices flexibility for price + portability + integrated accessories. If you'll only ever record your own voice for video calls and podcasting, the NT-USB Mini does that exact job for €40 less.

| Metric | Blue Yeti | NT-USB Mini |
|---|---|---|
| Polar patterns | Cardioid, omni, bidirectional, stereo | Cardioid only |
| Weight / portability | 550g - heavy | 200g - travel-friendly |
| Body controls | Gain + mute + pattern + monitor | None (software only) |
| Pop filter included | No (buy separately) | Yes (integrated) |
| Shock mount included | No (Yeti uses integrated stand) | Yes (integrated) |
| Build material | Metal + die-cast | Plastic body, steel grille |
| Connector | USB-A or USB-mini-B | USB-C |
| Price | €139 | €99 (-€40) |
The 4 polar patterns are the real value. With a single click on the body's pattern dial you can switch from cardioid (front pickup only, ideal for solo voice) to omni (all-around pickup, ideal for group interviews) to bidirectional (front + back pickup, ideal for face-to-face interviews) to stereo (left + right pickup, ideal for ASMR or acoustic instruments). The NT-USB Mini does cardioid only.
The body controls also help. Live mute on a physical button is faster than alt-tabbing to a mute toggle when someone walks into the room.
For the 80% of buyers who only ever record their own voice at a fixed desk position, the NT-USB Mini does exactly that for less money. The included pop filter + shock mount + USB-C cable means you don't have to buy a €15 pop filter and a €30 boom arm separately. And the 200g weight means basically any boom arm with any spring will hold it.
